Sichuan has a "foreign doctor"

Four arms liberated three doctors and completed one operation in 30 minutes. On the 9th, Sichuan’s first surgical robot, “Da Vinci”, was officially employed in the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital.

“Sichuan’s surgical field has entered the era of robotics, which can be called a milestone.” Yang Hongji, director of the Organ Transplantation Center of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital, said that with the assistance of “Da Vinci”, the operation became very easy.

On the same day, "Da Vinci" completed two operations of cholecystectomy and non-functional nephrectomy in the operating room of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital. The first cholecystectomy was performed for only 30 minutes.

The Da Vinci Surgical Robot System is the only AI-assisted laparoscopic surgery system available worldwide for human surgery. The system includes a surgeon's console, a bedside robotic arm system, and an imaging system.

What is the magic of "Da Vinci"? The reporter also walked into the operating room and unveiled its veil. The robotic arm system is like the palm of a person. Each joint is complete and flexible. The robot under the "palm" can travel flexibly in a 360-degree space. At the console, a doctor performs a fine surgery by manipulating the "Da Vinci" lever. The imaging system on the operating table displays the patient's internal view in real time, which magnifies the doctor's surgical field by 15 times.

“In the past, we needed four surgeons to do an open operation. Now a doctor can complete the operation through the console.” Yang Hongji said that “Da Vinci” liberated the doctor and saved labor costs.

It is understood that the "Da Vinci" surgical robot introduced by the Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital is the 21st in China. The system is currently widely used in some countries in the United States and Europe, and South Korea has recently launched a plan to promote medical robots.

"A lot of complicated operations in the future can be done step by step with robots." Yang Hongji said that the development of surgical robots is promising, and remote control and even voice control can be realized in the future.

However, saving doctors' labor does not mean replacing doctors. "Doctors are definitely the most important. No matter how advanced robots are, they need doctors to control them," said Yang Hongji.
