Tomato color transition notes

Tomato color conversion refers to the process of fruit turning from green to red and gradually mature. In the process of color transformation of tomato fruits, if the production and management operations are improper, it is easy to form a “flower face” on tomato fruits. The temperature regulation in wintering sheds is unscientific and management methods are not suitable. It is very easy to cause uneven coloration of tomatoes and poor commercial quality, thus affecting the income of vegetable farmers.

In order to color the tomatoes and have a high degree of merchandise, the following three points must be taken into account when managing tomatoes:

1, a reasonable fertilization. The base fertilizer is dominated by organic fertilizers, and various nutrients are reasonably matched. When topdressing potassium fertilizers to promote the enlargement and coloring of tomato fruits, it is necessary to use them before the color conversion period to promote the color conversion of fruits. This is because it takes time for K fertilizer to be absorbed and utilized by plants after being applied to the soil. Potash fertilizer should use basal fertilizer or result in initial flushing. It will not play a good role if the fruit is red after topdressing.

2, temperature regulation. Tomato fruit development period to control the temperature of 25 ~ 30 °C, night temperature at 13 ~ 17 °C.

3, avoid excessive leaf sparing. Appropriate sparse leaves in the middle and late stages of the tomato are good for fruit coloring, but the sparse leaves should pay attention to one degree, and avoid neglecting the head. Experts believe that the sparse leaves should be removed during the color change period is the old leaves of the diseased leaves and plants, yellow leaves and a few leaves shading around the fruit, must not remove all the leaves of the lower red fruit, if the leaves are removed Excessive photosynthetic accumulation will affect fruit enlargement.

Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide, also known as titanium(IV) oxide or titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula TiO2. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6 (PW6), or CI 77891. Generally it is sourced from ilmenite, rutile and anatase. It has a wide range of applications, from paint to sunscreen to food coloring. When used as a food coloring, it has E number E171. World production in 2014 exceeded 9 million metric tons.
